South Cottesloe Beach - Banded toadfish

Observing animal behavior can be fun too. I saw a few banded toadfish (Torquigener pleurogramma) half-buried in sand at a depth of about 1 m last Sunday.

Some references say that the fish are taking a rest and tend to do this at night. Some say they are doing it for camouflage, waiting to ambush its prey.
